Freedom Hill Horse Rescue’s program for Veterans is an unmounted equine-assisted learning and activities program. The program was designed by a licensed social worker with PATH International certifications, along with volunteers. Theories and ethical practices from PATH, Int. have been incorporated. This five-week EAAL (Equine Assisted Activities and Learning) group allows Veterans to explore and experience their personal growth and development through equine-assisted activities. Research has shown the many benefits of Equine-Assisted Activities and Learning including both mental and physical benefits to individuals.

Being with and working with horses can provide veterans numerous opportunities for self-growth, insight, personal development, improved self-esteem and self-image, building confidence, and relief of, and management of, daily stressors and emotions. This group aims to touch on these areas as well as introduce members to the unique horse-human relationship and basic horsemanship skills.
